“Allami – raised in Syria and London, of Iraqi origins – is hard to pin down. His projects range from debut album Resonance/Dissonance (nominated for a Songlines award in 2012) to musical archiving; UK tours with a selection of other musicians to teaching and mentoring at London University’s SOAS. The uniting force is, he says: “Passion for music. Passion for doing different things – for challenging myself and for challenging audiences. Respect for audiences – to give them something different rather than sticking to the same thing.””
