Right To Education is a project of Bir Zeit University, just outside Ramallah in the West Bank. It:
seeks to raise international awareness about the obstruction and denial of education in Palestine and to bring pressure to bear on governments, decision-makers and ultimately the Israeli authorities to guarantee safe and free access of all Palestinians to their educational institutions.
Edinburgh University Students Association is twinned with Bir Zeit and its Students for Justice in Palestine group is organising a whole bunch of events next week for international Right To Education week – for more details see here. They include a photography exhibition which features some of my images taken over the last few years in Palestine. The following week, at the book launch for the new Bradt guidebook to Palestine, Edinburgh Uni Middle Eastern Society will also be helping to raise funds for Ahdaf, a small British charity which sponsors Palestinian students attending universities in the West Bank and Gaza.
